I am sure I am not alone in wanting to give thanks to God for the wondrous bounty that he gives us. Once again, our allotment has produced a bumper harvest and I have struggled to keep on top of harvesting, preparing and preserving the produce, (be that in jams, chutneys or freezing). I am reminded of Galatians 6:9, “Let us not become weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up. We could have grown weary and given up when it was too wet to plant anything or when the weeds grew faster than the things we had planted, but if we had done, we would not be enjoying the bounty that we are now! So, as the nights draw in and autumn is fast approaching let us not get despondent, let us embrace this new season and give our all to serving the God who loves to bless us and we will. experience the bounty that He has for us, the blessings that He longs to shower upon us. We have seeds to sow for God and a harvest to reap for Him.
Noah’s Ark Request
Gill Brownell and Karen have put out a plea for someone to help them with Noah’s Ark. Sadly. Cathy is moving to pastures new and is therefore no longer able to do the refreshments and shopping for them. They are looking for someone who is willing to purchase the snacks each week for the children and help the grandma who comes along each week to do the refreshments. There are also occasions when one or other of them is unable to be there and it would be good to have someone who is willing to step in and help with the setting up and running of the morning. If you are interested in either finding out more, or helping with these requests, then please speak to Gill or Karen.

And finally!
It’s Harvest Sunday at a small village church in rural England and the vicar is organizing his annual harvest service where people bring their home-grown plants and vegetables to the service. But this year is different. The local village cricket team has just won their league and the village is in a celebratory mood so the vicar decides to do something special – he will combine the normal harvest service with a cricket theme. The day of the service arrives, and the church is filled with flowers. People are bringing in their offerings of vegetables, and in the middle of the display is a cricket wicket, a strip of turf with a set of wooden stumps at each end, and people are laying their offerings on the wicket. Everything is going fine until one lady comes up to the front of the church and places a bag of frozen peas among the other vegetables. She is stopped by the vicar and returns to her seat still clutching her peas.
“What happened?” asked the lady she’s sitting next to.
She shrugs her shoulders and says, “There’s no peas for the wicket.”
